Disney launches Disney Mix Central digital media store for kids
Entertainment industry giant Disney has launched a new digital media store targeting kids. The store features singles, albums and music videos.
Chris Heatherly, the consumer products unit’s head of electronics at Disney said in a statement on this new development: “This is the first direct-download service has done.”
The store has been named Disney Mix Central. Disney said that they have made available around 1,500 songs and 19 music videos from Disney stars such as Hannah Montana and The Cheetah Girls on the store for sale.
Heatherly added on the content being offered on sale on the store: “It’s a (Disney) branded line of music so parents know that it’s safe. In these big music stores, kids can have access to safe content. But they can have access to inappropriate content, too.”
Incidentally, Disney has been already selling their media on Apple’s iTunes including episodes from their shows on the Disney Channel.
