Toshiba launches Centrino Pro Laptops

Japanese consumer electronics maker Toshiba has announced their first Centrino Pro Laptops. These notebook products are powered by the Intel’s new mobile platform “Centrino Pro”.

Toshiba’s Tecra A9 would cost around $1,160 and comes loaded with similar features as its smaller sister notebook, the M9 which costs $1,800.

Both of these notebook products are powered with the Intel’s Centrino Pro chipset combining Mobile Intel 965 chipset, Intel Wi-Fi, and Intel Active Management Technology along with the Intel’s Core 2 Duo processors.

Toshiba added that these new products also feature draft-802.11n wireless technology. They would offer Windows Vista Business and Windows Vista Ultimate on these new notebooks.

The company further said that these two new products include Toshiba’s new 3D accelerometer which has been designed to prevent damage to the hard drive in case of an accidental drop.

Toshiba’s A9 would also feature the Sleep and Charge USB port. This feature enables the user to charge compatible cell phones or MP3 players whether the notebook is on or off.
