Yahoo now offering personalized version of travel planning service

Personalized services are becoming increasing popular. Google recently launched iGoogle and now Yahoo! has announced the launch of a new personalized version of its travel planning website.

This new travel planning service merges several Yahoo services including online community, bargain hunting, and Internet mapping technology.

The service would make recommendations to the user based on his previous activity on the site. It would also share this information with other users having similar tastes.

Yahoo Travel director Jasper Malcolmson spoke on this new service launch: “We want to fundamentally transform the way people plan and research their trips. By tapping into the collective intelligence of other like-minded travelers, there is a greater ability to plan and take truly memorable trips.”

Yahoo is also making available a plug-in for their Yahoo! Messenger application to let people in different locations to use the messenger to book flights online together in real time.
