Penn State University discourage Internet Explorer usage
The list continues to grow bigger and bigger. More authorities are coming out with recommendations on avoiding Internet Explorer as the primary browser. The latest addition to this list is the Penn State University.
The university has around 80,000 students and they have urged their students to discard Internet Explorer for alternative browsers. Even the staff has been instructed to follow this recommendation.
This guideline was issued by the Information Technology Services of the university. They suggested that since the threats related to bugs, security flaws are real, and some great alternate solution exists… there is a very good reason to move on. Opera, Firefox and Safari (for Mac) are some of the other standard compliant browsers available in the market.
US-Cert and Finland’s Finnish Communications Regulatory Authority have recently issued similar recommendations.
