MySpace provides Take Down Stay Down tool to prevent copyright violation
Online social networking service MySpace.com has announced the availability of its copyright protection software for video content.
The News Corp. owned service has launched this new feature named Take Down Stay Down. This technology would prevent users from reposting videos that have been removed at the request of the copyright owner.
The company already has several copy protection tools available on their service. This includes an audio filtering application which screens audio files to prevent people from uploading bootlegged music in addition to another video filtering application, which screens video files to prevent illegal video uploads.
Content developers can also use the Content Take Down tool to request unauthorized content be taken down from the MySpace website.
Incidentally, MySpace announcement comes at a time when rival video sharing service YouTube is facing a couple of lawsuits from media companies over copyrighted material uploaded on their servers.
