Microsoft and SanDisk to work on advanced computer memory cards
Software giant Microsoft has said that they are now going to work in partnership with flash memory maker SanDisk to develop advanced computer memory cards.
The two companies said that these advanced computer memory cards would allow the users to carry their data with them in one small device.
Microsoft would be working on developing the software for the product while SanDisk would work on the hardware part.
The two companies aim to make these memory cards available in the retail market by next year. Microsoft and SanDisk did not reveal the financial aspects of their collaboration.
These memory cards would essentially be replacements for the SanDisk’s U3 line of USB smart drives. Mike Langberg, a spokesman for SanDisk said: “This is really more about taking applications and data and [a] customized user interface with you from computer to computer. I don’t know exactly what it’s going to look like, [but] our whole computing experience would go with you in your pocket. When you plug this flash drive or flash card into a new computer, up would pop your user interface, all your familiar icons and documents.”
