Hitachi starts shipping 200 GB high-performing Travelstar 7K200 hard drive
Japanese tech giant Hitachi has announced that they are now shipping their 200 GB high-performing notebook hard drive.
The drives come with optional data encryption technology. The Hitachi Travelstar 7K200 runs at 7,200 RPM and features double the capacity of its earlier generation product.
Hitachi further claims that this new generation of hard drives offers a 22% performance improvement over its predecessor.
They are shipping these hard drives with Hitachi’s “bulk data encryption” technology for data security. Hitachi added that Dell and its Alienware subsidiary are the first personal computer makers to offer this hard drive in their product range.
Incidentally, Hitachi had also last month started shipping to retailers a 1 TB hard drive for PCs. Market reports suggest that the company is currently the third largest hard-drive maker in terms of shipments with 17.2% of the market.
