Microsoft talks about their Fone+ research project

Software giant Microsoft believes that mobile phones can act as personal computers and are encouraging the manufacturers to formalize the transition of the phone to a mobile PC.

The company also talked about their research project called “Fone+” which is being developed to allow phones to work with television sets as their secondary display.

This technology would allow the user to play back the media on their phones on their television sets.

Microsoft Research chief Craig Mundie added: “There’s no reason that if this thing were hooked up to a large display that we couldn’t watch video in this environment.”

the company also showcased a Micronics portable “lab in a box” device. Microsoft said that this device can take a drop of blood and perform molecular analysis to determine whether the patient is affected by a certain type of disease.

This product has been developed for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and it would be released sometime in the near future.
