Napster in a deal with Motorola for music subscription service
Digital music retailer Napster has announced that they are now collaborating with the world’s second largest mobile phone maker Motorola.
The two companies would now be offering Napster’s music subscription service on various compatible Motorola mobile phones.
Napster added that they are also planning to develop promotional efforts for North America, the United Kingdom and Germany.
The company has more than 3 million-songs on offer in their library and is one of the more visible challenger to the Apple iTunes.
Motorola needed a deal like this to effectively compete with Apple’s upcoming iPhone product which would be compatible with the Apple iTunes digital media store.
Interesting, Apple and Motorola have worked together in the past for the first generation Moto ROKR mobile phone which proved to be a disappointment for both the consumer and the company.
Motorola has also just launched their new Motorola ROKR Z6 mobile phone which fits perfectly with this deal with Napster.
