Verizon Wireless to broadcast ESPN media content on mobile devices

The second largest mobile service provider in the United States Verizon Wireless has announced that they are collaborating with sports network ESPN to bring their content to the mobile devices.

They would now be broadcasting content ranging from video highlights to score updates to cell phones.

The two companies have signed on a multi year exclusive agreement to offer the service. This is the first deal of its kind for ESPN ever since Walt Disney announced their decision to close down its ESPN-branded mobile phone service in the country.

Verizon Wireless is hoping that this new service would benefit their existing customers who are sports fans. They are also hoping to lure away subscribers from other telecom companies in the country.

The service would be made available for free to customers who pay $15 a month to subscribe to its VPak service.
