AOL sees huge growth in the mobile advertising market

Time Warner’s AOL division has said in a statement that they believe the mobile advertising sector to grow huge in the coming years.

AOL said that the market for advertising on cell phones could grow to $5 billion in five years. The company said that the market is increasingly focusing on this emerging media to advertise their products and services.

The company has also just recently acquired privately held mobile advertising company Third Screen Media as they aim to be a bigger player in this segment. They would be facing intense competition from Google, Yahoo and of course Microsoft’s MSN division.

AOL CEO Randy Falco said in a statement: “I think mobile is one of the great growth opportunities, along with global that we have.”

He added: “It will certainly be in the $4.5 to $5 billion range in terms of the marketplace. I think you need to be there. That’s money that’s coming from some place. It’s coming from other media.”
