Google to put an age verification system on their search engine in Korea
Search engine giant Google has said that their Korean division is going to introduce an age-verification system to its search engine later this year.
This system would be designed to prevent kids from accessing adult-themed searches. The system is being prepared to block unrestricted access to those under 19 years of age.
Google said that the web users trying to search for adult keywords on their search engine would be asked to verify their age.
The limitation would be placed on around 700 words in Korean judged to be adult and supplied to the portal by the Korean government.
Users would be able to verify their age by putting in their name and national resident registration number. This data would be verified against the official database to check the age of the visitor on the website.
Google Korea aims to have this system in place by September this year.
