New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo has sued Dell for poor customer services
World’s second largest personal computer maker is being sued by the New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo.
The Attorney General is accusing Dell of “bait and switch” advertising and he is also claiming that the company fails to deliver what it promises to the customer.
The lawsuit claims that the company lured in users by offering zero percent financing, then switched them to a higher rate without their knowledge at the time of purchase.
The targeted parties are Dell and its Dell Financial Services LP. Both of them are being accused of indulging in fraud, false advertising and deceptive business practices.
Dell in a statement has denied these claims. Company spokesman Bob Pearson said in a statement: “We are confident that our practices will be found to be fair and appropriate. While even one dissatisfied customer is too many, the allegations in the AG’s filing are based upon a small fraction of Dell’s consumer transactions in New York.”
Cuomo had this to say: “We want fairness. Either provide the customer service packages that you sell or don’t sell the packages.” His office claims to have received an unprecedented number of complaints against Dell.
