Amazon UK starts DVD Rentals

The world’s most popular online shopping store Amazon has launched DVD rentals on their UK based portal. In addition, to lure customers they are offering an early bird discount of 10% to the members on DVD purchased from the website.

They have integrated the rental services in the already existing DVD store on the Amazon.co.uk website. Users of Amazon as a result can buy or rent DVDs as per their wish from the same location. Even better is that the services would also be offered by the associates and affiliates of Amazon in the United Kingdom.

Amazon has made it very simple for the customers to get access to the DVDs. They can make lists of the DVDs they want to rent and decide on a pre-planned rental packages. Amazon send the DVDs to the customers with a pre-paid return envelops! Users just have to put the DVDs back in that package and drop it in when they want to get the next one.

Competition should be worried considering Amazon is one of the best example of how online shopping can be made successful and profitable.

This is not as good as other deals out there. Sure Virgin and LoveFilm and Netflix are a bit more expensive, but they do not impose a 6 disc a month limit. You’d be able to get maybe 12 discs a month from the other, bringin the rental price down even more. Look elsewhere is my opinion.
