HP targets Chinese market with AMD powered PC
China with its large population provides a big market for the PC Manufacturers. However, it is the local computer makers who rule the Chinese PC Market. The power wielded by these manufacturers can be gauged from the fact that one of these Lenovo Group has recently bought the PC operations from IBM!
To compete with these manufacturers, Hewlett-Packard has decided to go cheap. They are selling a Pavilion PC, which is powered by AMD processor and comes loaded with FreeDOS OS. It is cheap and competes heads on with some of the similar offerings from Lenovo Group.
China is considered to be the second biggest market of Computers outside America in terms of revenues. And this just might be the beginning of the American assault. HP currently is sixth largest PC seller in China. Dell and IBM are better placed than HP though still far behind local manufacturers like Founder and Tongfang.
