Clear Channel Communications launches a free mobile texting program for listeners

Clear Channel Communications has announced that they are now launching a new mobile program that enables listeners to text-message radio stations from their cell phones.

This service is available free of cost and would enable their listeners to send their messages to make song requests, get real-time traffic reports and access other information.

They launched this service after getting experience from the mobile program with Cingular Wireless which allowed their listeners to stream live broadcasts, listen to podcasts of interviews, access playlists, get real-time traffic reports and send song requests to disc jockeys via text-messaging.

The company said that they are now focusing on providing this service for free but without any streamed broadcasts.

John Hogan, chief executive officer of Clear Channel Radio added: “Giving users an individualized, on-demand experience will strengthen listeners’ connection with their favorite radio stations.”

he added: “People will pay us for the number of people we are able to reach. This platform will add a level of accountability and credibility.”
