Web users are accepting that Spam is a part of online life

Pew Internet and American Life Project has reported in their latest study that spam mails continue to increase and remain a major hassle for heavy users of email.

But less customers are now complaining about it as they are now accepting it as part of their online life.

The report said that 37% of U.S. e-mail users say they are getting more junk in their personal e-mail accounts. 29% of the respondents see an increase in their work accounts.

However, the percentage of people who say that spam is not a problem has increased from 16% (in 2003) to 28% now.

Susannah Fox, associate director with Pew spoke about their study: “It’s maybe starting to become part of life online. Once something’s part of life online, people feel that they should just stop complaining about it and move on, even though people are still annoyed by it.”

The study was conducted through phone calls made to 1,492 U.S. adult Internet users.
