Rumors: Apple could discontinue Mac Mini
AppleInsider has stated in a report that they have received internal information that Apple Inc. could discontinue their Mac Mini computer product.
Mac Mini was launched as a solution for Switchers from the Windows platform who already had other hardware like the monitor, keyboard and mouse.
It is also the cheapest Mac available in the market today. AppleInsider reported that the company could discontinue Mac Mini after a near-term upgrade or even before that.
This could be the result of Apple’s recent launch of Apple TV product. Most buyers of Mac Mini preferred to use it as a media device… a capability which is now fulfilled by the Apple TV product.
Apple Mac Mini is the only product from the company yet to be upgraded to feature the Intel’s Core 2 Duo processor technology.
It would be a disappointing news for people looking for a cheap Mac if Apple indeed go ahead and discontinue the Mac Mini. We had prefer the company to update the Mac Mini with the latest hardware technology to make it a cheaper alternative for those shifting from the Windows platform.

Who cares? The Mac Mini, in spite of the belief of the Mac faithful, is an inferior piece of garbage. For its expensive cost, it is underpowered in processor, RAM, hard drive size, and expansion. It comes with no keyboard, mouse, or monitor. I doubt there were many serious switchers who had never toyed with a Mac before who actually purchased a Mac Mini. Why would people do that when there are so many PCs out there with far better equipment than on a Mac Mini for far cheaper in price? And Windows Media Centre is superior to Apple’s Front Row by a landslide. It’s just that Mac people can’t admit it. The Mac Mini is a Mac Major flop.
