Toshiba to offer AMD processors in their notebooks
Toshiba has accepted the fact that they would have to remove their dependency upon Intel as the sole supplier of processors for their computing products.
The Japanese maker of consumer electronics is said to be considering plans to buy microprocessors from Advanced Micro Devices Inc. to power their products.
This has been reported in a news report by the media group The Nikkei which said that the primary reason behind this move by Toshiba is to lessen the prices of their notebooks.
PC Hardware market is very competitive and with HP and Dell dominating sales worldwide, Toshiba needs to be price competitive to stay afloat in the market.
The report claimed that Toshiba intends to begin using AMD processors in about 20% of the notebooks it sells in the U.S. and Europe.
However, Toshiba is expected to continue using Intel on their high performance machines. AMD processors are likely to power their budget segment computers.
