Google and Daum Communications considering expanding partnership
Daum Communications is the second most popular search engine in the South Korean market and they are now discussing plans to expand their collaboration with the US based search engine giant Google.
As per available reports, Google Chairman Eric Schmidt and Daum CEO Seok Jong-hoon are in talks to discuss possible ways the two companies can work together in Internet search services.
They can also collaborate to expand the presence of Daum’s user-created video content service.
Daum just last year announced their decision to switch from Yahoo to Google to power the advertising on their services.
Google is trying to expand their presence in this market which is currently dominated by NHN Corp.’s dominant Naver Web site.
They have also just recently updated their South Korean website to feature an enhanced user interface which somewhat goes against their philosophy of being simple. Check the screenshot:
