Microsoft Surface: Coffee Shaped Table Computer
Software giant Microsoft has displayed a new product named Surface. Microsoft Surface is basically a coffee-table shaped computer.
It has been designed to respond to touch and it also affects special bar codes attached to everyday objects.
The company added that these Surface tables would arrive at T-Mobile USA stores and properties owned by Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. and Harrah’s Entertainment Inc. later this year.
Technically speaking, the tables are specially designed Windows Vista powered computers which are placed inside a shiny black table base.
They come loaded with a 30-inch touchscreen in a clear acrylic frame. The table is also equipped with a couple of cameras which sense nearby objects are mounted beneath the screen.
These are expected to sell for between $5,000 and $10,000 per unit and the company expects to make them affordable to common computer users in the next three to five years.
