Samsung showcases moviMCP chipset with 4GB storage

Samsung has done it again. They have developed a new mobile chipset named moviMCP which comes with built in 4 GB memory space.

The company believes that this chipset can remove the need to add external memory card slots to mobile phones and other devices.

This should enable the mobile phone makers including Samsung itself to develop smaller phones with more functionality.

The chipset package includes two 16 GigaBit NAND flash chips and a controller, a 1 GigaBit mobile DRAM chip to support the processor and a 2 GigaBit NAND flash chip for general handset operations.

The company has used the eMMC interface for this chipset which is based on the MultiMedia Card association (MMCA) standard for embedded memory.
