M-money: Maxis launches mobile international money transfer service
Malaysia’s top mobile phone operator Maxis has announced the launch of their new service named M-money.
This service has been designed to enable mobile users to remit money using their mobile phones. The service is specifically designed for Filipino workers in Malaysia who would be able to send money to their families.
Maxis is collaborating with Philippines’ Globe Telecom to introduce this new service which they claim is the world’s first mobile international money transfer service of its kind.
The service enables the mobile phone users to wire up to 500 ringgit ($143) per transaction to Globe subscribers in the Philippines.
This money can be retrieved at Globe’s 6,000 outlets in Philippines Maxis added that they would be charging only a five ringgit ($1.47) service fee per transaction. This is quite less compared to regular bank fees.
