Steve Ballmer: Microsoft has no plans to make mobile phones
Microsoft could not have resisted making the Zune to get a slice of the market currently dominated by Apple and their iPod range of digital music players.
But they currently have no plans to offer a competing product to the upcoming Apple iPhone.
Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer was quoted as saying to the media: “I don’t actually think it will make sense for us to make a cellphone.”
He said that the company is more interested in expanding its share of the market for cellphone software. Microsoft offers their Windows Mobile platform for mobile devices.
However, the funny thing is that Ballmer had once said that the company had no plans to develop a digital music player and they did end up launching the Microsoft Zune.
Ballmer added about the Zune player that the company is fully committed to this product and would expand the range with newer products.
