Apple iTunes launches Foreign Exchange program
Apple’s iTunes Music Store has launched a new program feature named Foreign Exchange which has been designed by the company to promote foreign-language music in its stores around the world.
This program would enable artists from different countries translate and cover each other’s music in their native tongues.
Apple has launched this program with Wir Sind Helden and +44. Wir Sind Helden is covering +44′s “When Your Heart Stops Beating” while +44 is responding back by covering Wir Sind Helden’s “Guten Tag.”
Apple iTunes already has a presence in around 22 nations around the world and this program is likely to benefit the musicians who want a broader audience.
Mark Hoppus of +44 spoke about this new initiative: “The idea is exposing people to bands they may not listen to. In America, we don’t really listen to music in other languages. I think it’s a cool idea to get people to open their ears to music from different parts of the world.”
