Google makes their Book Search engine available to publishers
Search engine giant Google has announced that they are now letting interested publishers to use their book search engine on their websites.
This would be the first time that the Google Book search engine service would be made available outside the Google’s own network of sites.
This is likely to benefit both the parties. Google would gain as the engine would be made available at a larger scale while the publishers would be able to provide this value added service to their visitors.
Publishers would be able to tweak the search engine to show the results of their own catalogue of books. The main search engine would continue to point to links where the user would be able to purchase the books.
The McGraw-Hill Companies has already made use of this feature. The important aspect of this new development is that they were one of the several companies who had sued the search engine company of indexing their copyrighted material.
