Google confirm acquisition of FeedBurner
FeedBurner is one of the most loved RSS related service on the web. And now the search engine giant Google has acquired it.
FeedBurner specializes in helping publishers to manage RSS feeds of podcasts, weblogs, news and also enables them to advertise through them.
Google itself is a minor player in the RSS feed advertising market and this acquisition would help them to further explore this market.
Google vice president of product management Susan Wojcicki spoke on this new acquisition: “We are thrilled with this acquisition. We believe the two companies are very complementary and it will enable Google to bring hundreds of thousands of new sites into AdSense network.”
FeedBurner co-founder Dick Costolo spoke on their service: “The number of feed publishers continues to explode and the number of people subscribing has exploded. The spiraling complexity we are seeing in the world of media distribution is not over. FeedBurner’s focus is providing the right media to the right end-point.”
