ISRO chairman Madhvan Nair: No plans to send a man to moon

Indian Space Research Organization seems to have dropped their plans to send a man to the moon, the only natural satellite our planet has.

Incidentally, just a couple of months back they had announced ambitious plans of having plans of a manned mission to moon by 2014.

ISRO receive little funds from the Indian government and this seems to have changed their plans for the time being.

Chairman of Indian Space Research Organization ISRO, Madhvan Nair confirmed in a statement that they do not plan to send any manned mission to the moon.

He also confirmed that a spacecraft with a robot would be launched in September. This mission would be to study and collect data around the moon. This robot has been developed by the students of IIT Kanpur.
