TurboLinux Wizpy coming to a store near you this month

TurboLinux Inc. has announced that their TurboLinux Wizpy would be made available in markets starting this month.

The TurboLinux Wizpy is essentially a portable media player which comes loaded with a PC-bootable version of the Linux operating system.

The company has developed their own version of the Linux operating system for this device and they plan to target it in overseas markets as well. Noriaki Fukuyasu, director of TurboLinux’s international business division spoke about this product: “With Windows Vista just coming out people are thinking about changing their operating system but many are not sure they want to upgrade to Vista.”

With TurboLinux Wizpy, users would be able to carry a complete Linux desktop in their pocket. The computer boots using the device and every change is saved on the device itself. This means that the user would be able to practically carry his desktop around in a portable media player.

It comes with a 1.7-inch OLED (organic light emitting diode) color screen and keypad on the front. It supports Ogg, MP3 and Windows Media Audio formats along with XviD and MPEG4 video files and JPEG image format. FM radio is also present and the device can also record sound.
