Motorola and Apple for iTunes friendly phones

As mobile phones start competing with iPod by incorporating music players in their functionalities, Apple is not staying behind. Rumors are floating that Apple wants to enable iTunes music shopping on mobile phones shipped by Motorola.

Forbes reports that Apple vice president of applications Eddy Cue have said that they would be coming out with something related within the first half of next year. He confirmed that they are running on schedule with their plans.

However, no details have been given out on what kind of a device we are looking at. Cue just assures that the product would be seamless to use and appeal to the youth of today. It sounds like a phone that Motorola would develop using Apple’s technology. It would let user connect it to computers with iTunes installed and upload songs purchased from the Apple’s music store.

This could give Motorola an edge in their mobile business considering iTunes happens to be the most popular online music store on the web with sales touching 200 million songs recently. Also in rumors is a flash memory based iPod release in the coming months. Current iPods use hard drives to store the music.
