SiteAdvisor suggests that music and tech related searches products riskiest results
If you are search for some music or technology related material on Google, you need to take some extra care as these search results are likely to be having more sites with spyware and other malicious code.
This was revealed in a study conducted using the McAfee Inc.’s SiteAdvisor service. One of the riskiest term to search for on the web is ‘screensavers’. As many as 42 percent of the results were flagged with a “red” warning or a cautionary “yellow” by McAfee Inc.’s SiteAdvisor service.
Some other high risk terms include the names of file sharing applications popular for downloading pirated media from the Internet including “BearShare,” “LimeWire” and “Kazaa.”
McAfee revealed these statistics in their newly released report named “The State of Search Engine Safety”.
Mark Maxwell, senior product manager for SiteAdvisor added about their research findings: “We’ve seen some incremental steps in the right direction. But the average Joe user should be aware there’s still plenty to be concerned about.”
