Lala.com to launch an iPod compatible music service
Lala.com has announced that they are now launching a new music service which would be compatible with the hugely popular Apple iPod media player.
This music service would allow the customers to get free online song play as Lala.com aims to lure more customers to buy music from them.
They are collaborating with the world’s fourth-largest music company, Warner Music Group. They would now be selling songs and albums without any DRM embedded in them.
However, the downloads would only be possible on Apple iPods. This is to make sure that the songs are not pirated.
Lala.com said that they are also talking with other music companies to expand the scope of their new service.
Lala.com founder Bill Nguyen added: “We believe over the next two years we might lose $40 million. We expect up to 70 percent of people will be freeloaders just listening to the music but around 30 percent will be buying music.”
