Sony to invest on expanding production of image sensors

Sony has announced that they are going to invest nearly 500 million dollars to boost production of image sensors.

These sensors are used in digital devices like digital cameras and camera-equipped mobile phones.

The demand for these products is increasing and Sony wants to remain a major player in the market catering to the needs of the customer.

The company is also going to invest 60 billion yen to expand clean room facilities and image sensor fabrication capacity at a factory in southern Japan.

Sony added in its statement: “Sony is positioning image sensors as a key focus area of its semiconductor business. Through the reinforcement of this facility, Sony will strengthen supply and provide the platform for further image sensor business growth.”
