Melodeo to offer service to stream songs from iTunes playlists
Melodeo already has a service in place which allow their members to receive Web-based audio clips on their mobile phones.
The company now aims to make available their music libraries from their iTunes collection to their mobile devices.
Melodeo said that the service is currently in test mode and it would stream songs to cell phones for music fans who provide it with a list of the songs stored in personal libraries that use iTunes.
This service launch comes just as Apple is scheduled to launch their much awaited Apple iPhone mobile phone product which features a fully functional iPod digital media player.
David Dederer, Melodeo’s vice president for music services added that they could generate revenues from monthly fees for the service, software download fees, or audio advertisements.
They are not going to sell the customers songs as Apple do through their iTunes store. Instead, they would only stream songs based on a customer’s iTunes list.
Dederer further said on their plans: “We’re doing everything we can to follow the current legal guidelines and standard industry practices where the legal guidelines are not crystal clear.”
