Coca-Cola develops a social networking community for mobile users

Coca-Cola has announced the creation of a virtual social network community which targets only the mobile users.

The service is similar to existing networks like Facebook and MySpace but would only cater to users who access the net from mobile devices.

This network is being created to promote their Sprite brand and members would be able to set up profiles, post pictures and meet new friends.

They are targeting the US and Chinese market initially but plan to expand it to Latin American market in the coming months.

Mark Greatrex, senior vice president of marketing for Coca-Cola spoke on this new initiative: “The Coca-Cola Company needs to continue to recruit future generations of consumers. Mobile marketing is absolutely where it’s at for us going forward.”

The company added that they would monitor the service continuously to make sure that inappropriate photos and video were not posted.
