Yahoo talks about online freedom in China

Search engine company Yahoo is facing fresh lawsuits for helping the Chinese government target individuals for expressing their political views on the Internet.

The company has now publicly criticized the Chinese government for their attempts to block democratic views expressed online.

Yahoo! has accepted already that they did shared information about the Chinese reporter Shi with Chinese authorities.

Yahoo said: “Yahoo is dismayed that citizens in China have been imprisoned for expressing their political views on the Internet.”

The company however as expected added that they have no other choice but to follow the local rules of the land to continue working in the Chinese market.

Shi’s mother, Gao Qingsheng has been quoted as saying about her lawsuit against the company: “I believe my son is innocent. We will fight until the end.”
