Intel and Google to work together on Climate Savers Computing Initiative

Microprocessor maker Intel is now going to work with Search engine industry giant Google on a newly launched program named Climate Savers Computing Initiative.

The two companies have launched this initiative to introduce more energy-efficient personal computers and servers.

The aim is to get the tech companies to save energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The project has already signed up several tech giants including Dell, HP, IBM, Lenovo and Microsoft.

They would set up new efficiency goals for the involved parties to meet the requirements with their software and hardware products.

Urs Holzle, senior vice president of operations at Google added that their goal is to set a new 90 percent efficiency target for power supplies.

This alone is likely to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 54 million tons a year and save more than $5.5 billion in energy costs.
