eBay seems to have removed their ads from Google
Google and eBay seems to have a love-hate relationship. When Google launched their Google Base service, market analysts said that the search engine giant might be preparing to become the biggest challenger to eBay’s online auction service.
Same comments were raised when Google launched their Google Checkout service which was touted as a challenger to eBay’s PayPal.
The latest reports suggest that eBay has removed its ads which were appearing on the Google’s search result pages.
eBay has officially denied that they are taking any steps like this to get back at Google for starting promoting their online payment service.
eBay spokeswoman Catherine England said in a statement: “The reality is, this is something we do all the time. We always experiment with our marketing mix on eBay. We turned off our advertising through AdWords to see how it affects that.”
eBay is said to be one of the largest advertisers on the Google’s web advertising service. England added: “I don’t know if CheckOut really changed our relationship. There is a lot of interconnectivity with all the business on the Web. It is inevitable you’ll be competitors on one level and partners on another.”
