MSN Mobile portal updated
Microsoft has announced the availability of their updated MSN Mobile portal. The company has redesigned this portal which is optimized for mobile devices.
Phil Holden, Microsoft’s director of mobile Web services spoke on their views on the mobile market: “We firmly believe there is an inflection point here. There’s a new battle, a new frontline developing on the mobile phone.”
Microsoft said that the updated portal offers news, sports information, entertainment features and access to services like e-mail, search, maps and instant messaging all on one page.
Microsoft added that the service would detect the device being used to access the page and would automatically optimize as per the screen size of the device.
Microsoft’s rivals in this space include AOL, Yahoo and to some extent Google which are all expanding their mobile application availability.
Microsoft’s updated Mobile Portal is free of ads at the moment but they should start appearing sometime next year.
