Yahoo expanding mobile service availability in Asia
Internet giant Yahoo has said in a statement that the mobile service providers around the world have no reason to be afraid of their mobile services.
The company said that they want to assure the mobile service providers that they are not aiming to cut them out of the loop with its mobile content services.
Yahoo said: “Yahoo wants to work with operators for an optimized experience.”
Incidentally, market experts believe that the service providers around the world are getting jittery that companies like Google, Yahoo and Microsoft would start delivering their services directly to the end customer totally bypassing them.
David Ko, vice president and general manager of Yahoo’s mobile and broadband business in Asia added in a statement that the company has gone into collaboration with six Asian operators to launch their mobile services in the region.
These operators are: Globe Telecom in the Philippines, India’s Idea Cellular, South Korea’s LG Telecom, Maxis Communications in Malaysia, Indonesia’s PT Telekomunikasi Selular, and Taiwan Mobile.
This is good news for the company as they face intense competition from Google which is also entering into similar collaborations with mobile service providers around the world.
