AT&T launches Video Share service on mobile devices
US based telecom giant AT&T has said that they have now launched a new service which would enable callers share live video between cellphones.
The company however said that this newly launched AT&T Video Share service won’t apply to the iPhone.
Apple iPhone would not support this new service considering it uses an older network. Apple iPhone is scheduled for launch later this month and is likely to affect the mobile market in the US massively.
AT&T said that the Video Share service is currently available in three of their markets including Atlanta, Dallas and San Antonio. It would be made available in their other markets by next month.
The service would function only on the AT&T’s third-generation, wireless network and requires a Video Share-capable phone.
This service would be offered to their subscribers for US$4.99 and $9.99 a month, depending on included minutes. Without a plan, customers would be able to use it for 35 cents a minute.
AT&T chairman and CEO Randall Stephenson said in a statement on this newly launched service: “You should expect this to quickly reach the other two screens, and that’s the PC and the television. Imagine watching television when a notice pops on the screen that a daughter or granddaughter would like to initiate a Video Share call, then immediately switching the television screen to accept the video and audio. With our powerful IP-based network and flexible IMS platform, these scenarios will eventually be reality.”
