EMI: DRM Free music selling well on Apple iTunes
Music company EMI became the first (and only till now) major player in the market to offer their catalog of music on the iTunes in a DRM free version.
These music files are priced a bit higher compared to regular downloads on the iTunes which are loaded with DRM technologies to prevent them from playing on non iPod players.
EMI has now said in a statement that the DRM free music on iTunes is seeing impressive sales. The company somewhat admitted that the DRM free version is somewhat more popular compared to their DRMed version.
However, the disappointing news for the company is that the sales of Audio CDs in the market continues to fall down.
EMI is also likely to collaborate with other digital media stores in the market to sell their DRM free tracks. Amazon is said to be one of the companies which is currently in talks with EMI.
Apple is also said to be talking with other major music retailers to support the movement and start offering DRM free music on the Apple iTunes store.
