Google planning on launching YouTube in South Korea

Market sources suggest that the search engine giant Google is working on plans to launch their YouTube video sharing service in South Korean market sometime later this year.

The company wants to cater to the fast-growing user created content market in South Korea where majority of the web users are connected to the net using high speed connections.

Google acquired YouTube last year and it happens to be the internet’s most popular video sharing service on the web.

Yonhap news agency quoted a Google Korea representative: “Google is pushing to launch YouTube here in the second half.”

Google is likely to launch a South Korean language version to make the service more accessible and user friendly to the web users in the country.

The Google Korea spokesperson further said: “In addition, negotiations are underway with a number of local companies to secure content for its video-sharing business.”

Google had earlier this year said that they plan to localize the service in several nations including Japan, France and Germany.
