Tata Motors Rs. 1 lakh Car scoop photo!

Indian automaker Tata Motors is scheduled to launch their Rs. 1 lakh car sometime next year. The car is expected to revolutionize the automobile market in India as it would give the option to two wheeler owners to consider upgrading to a cheap car.
The company has been very secretive about the project and few details have been released to the media.
However, the automotive forum Team BHP has released what they claim is the first publicly released photo of the Tata’s upcoming Rs. 1 lakh car.
The image is small and not very clear but it looks like a shrunk version of the Daewoo Matiz which was sold in the Indian market till some years back.

Good for Tata…this car will revolutionize india in much the same way that the Model T, Volkwagen Bug, Fiat 500 and Renault 2CV did to their respective countries.
The car looks attractive…however given the driving rules (ie none or not followed)..I hope due respect have been paid to safety standards.
Its a very good car and it is for just Rs.1lack

what about the real size of the car will it be the same size as matiz or slightly small for if it is smaller than matiz it may be not accomodate five people . what about the body any specifications?

this is car is a five seater car. confirmed from friends in tata motors and it is a 600 cc car with engine at the rear. The max speed of the car is 80 kms and the basic petrol version will be non ac and will be priced at around 1.05 lac ex factory. This car exactly looks like a minature version of Zen estilo. later on diesel versions as well as auto gear versions where u dont have to change gear like kinetic honda scooters will be launched. This is best for city rides. I am A patriot and i will buy and i am waiting to book and ride the car. you guys do the same RAtan TATA is a visionary three cheers to him
it’s very nice but if there is any other option for fuel like LPG or CNG gas then it’s more suitable for middle class people.

When is it going to get launched? Does any1 know anything about booking it in advance? Its really a good thing to come. Only problem after that would be of parking and traffic coz lot of people will try to accomodate their four wheeler dreams in this car. Cities like Mumbai & Bangalore would become more congested. People will plan to buy this car instead of buying bikes.

really its a very good news for mid class family its may be bad for the indian traffic. Govt have to develope the plan that how to tackle this problem, as soon as possible.
sounds good….. as a project and product it is ground breaking….. but in the hands of us Indians ??????? next thing u know they may be cutting traffic and overtaking from the left as the bikes do…. CHAOS… cars can be purchased not driving culture and decorum… WILL THIS REVOLUTIONISE or DEMONISE INDIAN ROADS?? of course even rich guys crash expensive ones too…. Hey all this talk of 1 Lakh car…. How about a Decent diesel at 2.5 Lakhs… WHY NOBODY’S come up with one at that range… boon to a lot of middle middle class folks… can’t grasp what these head honchos think about launching a product….REMEMBER late 90’s- MATIZ first launched and only fully loaded at 4 plus Lacs :: SANTRO first launched starting at around 2.95-3 lacs less then the ZEN at around 3.4 lacs….. by the time the BIGWIGS at Daewoo got around too make things right the Santro story had reached deep into India… VALUE FOR MONEY - thats my assessment of the Indian Consumer…. not just cheap or fully loaded

this is a good news, i mean 1 lac car, but a bad news too.Good as the car is value for money, bad as it will make traffic jams worse espacially in busy cities.we give good attention to our cars but who gives a damn to roads they ply on? h0rrible…..

it is nice car to ride in the city. it will helpful for the house wife to leave their children to school, music class, drawing class, dance class, shopping ect. and to comute to distence around 150 km from the city coolly. i am weightin to purchase the car and to test drive. thanks to tata gi as he started this projcet after seaing the family wet on a bike. as all these posible because he abserve that family.

I think Rs 1lac is a bit too much for a car.I honestly feel that the prices should still be lowered so that poor people like us can affored it.Its still expensive as far my opinion goes.I would probably wait for a more cheaper car which would come arounf 45 - 50 thousand.

I am happy to know that the lanch date for this dream car has been fixed as 10th Jan. 2008. But I would like to know the booking commencement date in Chennai. Can anyone update me on the detail.
I’d rather buy a Maruti 800 if they price it against the Tata car since its a tried and tested formula.
what ever tatas do, they always do their best n loved by their customers. i m sure this will be a turning point in the small car segment. once again tata are going to throng the market of maruti & others.
I saw the picture of the Car. Its amazing, wounderful. Now in india everyone can buy this dream car. This is people car. Tata is a great company and open the doors to other companies to think about a cheap and best car. Tata opened doors for automobile industry to get more ideas to make a reasonble low price car.

That’s really great news…. Not sure whether Indian roads will withstand the traffic when everyone starts commuting through car…. Now it’s a challenge for Indian Govt to handle this future traffic
i m staying out of city assam roads r good but not like metros mostly highways travelling daily 40km is it possible with this nano or anjar panjar will come out.suppose iwant to go for travel say400-450km is it possible ?
is it possible in hills of shillong with half clutch is used.
