AOL news section updated to feature bloggish looks
Time Warner has updated a test version of their news portal featuring uncluttered look which seems to be inspired by the designs sported by blogs.
The company said that the aim of this new redesign is to keep readers returning to their service. They are also hoping that the updated look would enhance user experience by providing them more interactive features.
Lewis D’Vorkin, senior vice president of AOL News and Sports added: “I truly believe that when you go to most news sites, it’s a Web 1.0 world. They have rearranged the furniture. We have built new furniture.”
The same look is now expected to be incorporated into the AOL’s sports site in the coming days.
AOL is struggling to compete against Yahoo’s news service in the recent times. Considering that the company now relies on their online advertising revenues a lot more now, they need to enhance the readership to stay competitive.
The company said that they would add more features in the coming months. Users would soon be able to personalize the news page which they would implement by using the technology acquired from Relegence, a financial news services company.
