Flickr images now integrated in Yahoo Image Search results

Internet giant Yahoo has announced that they are now integrating Flickr hosted images in their Yahoo Search engine’s image search results.

Flickr is one of the leading image sharing service available on the web today and has millions of users who upload photos for sharing.

The company said in a statement that with this they are now providing web users with a database of over 300 million images in addition to their regular indexed images from the web.

Yahoo is hoping that this new addition would boost the quality of the image searching. The company further said that the Flickr hosted images would be credited to the photographer, and will link through to other shots taken by that person.

Ujwal Tickloo, Yahoo! Search product manager added: “We wanted to build a scalable integration that surfaced the freshest, most relevant content from Flickr. This integration brings another layer of relevance, freshness and, dare we say, beauty to our Image Search. And it’s only the beginning.”

Yes, but there is already a major flaw exposed. Yahoo search is also showing private images in its search.
