Microsoft to sell Rs. 21,000 computer in India
Software giant Microsoft has announced that they are collaborating with AMD and Zenith to offer a computer in the Indian market.
This computer product would be sold in the market for Rs. 21,000. It would initially be offered through 10 retail outlets each in Bangalore and Pune from July on a test basis.
The trial period would last for three months and they would expand the availability in the future.
Microsoft India chairman Ravi Venkatesan spoke on their initiative: “We don’t see any gain in the short term. Our perspective is long term.”
India is a growing internet market and PC penetration is required to grow to further expand the scope. Cheap computing products would boost this initiative and Microsoft wants to be a part of that.
Microsoft India further said that they are also planning to launch a job search service this year in India. They are planning to work with partners in government and industry for this portal which would compete with existing players in the market including www.naukri.com and www.monsterindia.com.
