Sprint launches music on mobile services
Apple might be working on a mobile handset compatible with iTunes in collaboration with Motorola, but the competition has started to appear. More players are getting into the music on mobile market and the latest to hop in is Sprint. They recently announced a deal with Music Choice to offer audio streaming mobile technology in USA.
They are apparently the first players in America to offer this kind of service but sure will not be the last. The market is immature with fears about digital rights management (DRM) of the shared music content and how the consumers would respond to these offerings. Sprint’s entry would get the basics cleared up for the upcoming players in the market.
Music Choice has been delivering digital content over cable and satellite since many years now. With Sprint, they would be offering six streaming live audio channels, plus a few video clips for around USD 6 a month. Sprint is in good hands, as Music Choice is pretty well supported in the market by major players like Microsoft and Sony.
Looks like we are in for an integrated platform based services.
