Honda planning to launch a small car in India by 2009
Every automaker in the Indian market is aiming to become a bigger player in the market by launching a compact car.
Honda is the latest to have given out some details on their plans. The Japanese automaker is hoping to launch their product in this segment by 2009.
Their car is not going to be a challenger to the upcoming Rs. 1 lakh car from Tata or the USD 3000 car from Renault/Nissan.
Instead, Honda is aiming to provide a challenge to the premium compact cars like Maruti Suzuki Swift and Hyundai Getz along with Chevrolet UVA.
Honda Motor Co Chairman Fatoshi Aoki spoke about their plans: “Personally, I would be surprised… The USD-3,000 car is out of range. We cannot just make a small car without Honda-like characteristics.”
