Warner Home Video delaying launch of Total HD format
Warner Home Video has announced that they are delaying the launch of their recently revealed hybrid Blu-ray/HD DVD disc mashup named Total HD.
This new hybrid format would be made available in the market by next year. Warner had first announced this format in January at CES this year.
The format combines the two next generation formats HD DVD and Blu-ray, one on each side of a disc. They had originally planned to launch these discs in the market by the end of the current year.
Warner senior VP of marketing management Steve Nickerson confirmed the delayed launch last week at the Entertainment Supply Chain Academy conference.
He said: “There is no expiration date on the viability of this concept, so we’re not in a rush to do it. We’ll do it when it makes sense and when it’s right.”
